ASEC Mimosas' Coach Slams Team's Lack of Quality After Jaraaf Defeat

After ASEC Mimosas' 1-0 loss to Jaraaf in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage encounter in Diamniadio, coach Julien Chevalier has publicly chastised his side.

Chevalier, who expressed disappointment with the performance, called out the team's weaknesses, especially in the first half, pointing to poor ball retention, a lack of technical skill, and an inability to react to the opponent's physicality. “We lacked quality in this match, especially in the first half. We couldn’t handle the opponent's direct play or their athletic commitment,” he remarked.

Jaraaf capitalized on ASEC's defensive lapses through a well-executed set piece, exposing what Chevalier described as "a lack of maturity and personality," especially in away games.

Despite the loss, Chevalier is not giving up. "Leaving with zero points is upsetting, but no decision has been made as of yet. In order to remain in the tournament, we will strive for the best outcome in the last match," he said.

If the Ivorian team wants to move on in the competition, they will have to deal with these problems quickly.
