"As a child, I thought I would be a policeman": Brentford star Yoane Wissa on his career
Brentford forward Yoane Wissa shared in an interview with Sun Sport what profession he envisioned for himself as a child. The footballer admitted that football wasn't even his dream, as he never expected to pursue it professionally.
"Growing up, I genuinely thought I would be an ordinary guy, maybe a policeman. Why not? But as soon as I saw a small sign that I might succeed, I embraced it. I know it sounds crazy when I tell people, but the truth is, I'm not the most talented guy," Wissa stated.
He also confessed that he only truly began to believe he could become a footballer at the age of 16, when he joined an academy. At that age, it was considered quite late, as most of the guys in the academy were around 14 years old.
It should be noted that Wissa started playing football as a goalkeeper. Later, he was moved to midfield, and only after that did he become a forward.
Additionally, in the current season, Wissa has scored 14 goals and provided 2 assists for Brentford in 28 matches across all competitions.
