Arne Slot explained why he included 16-year-old Rio Ngoumohia in the starting line-up for Liverpool's FA Cup clash with Accrington Stanley. The youngster made his debut for the club, becoming the youngest player in the Reds' history to play in the competition.
Slot stressed that Ngoumohia's confidence on the ball was a decisive factor in his selection.
"When he's with us, he's not afraid to do what he's good at - challenging players," the manager said. Slot also expressed hope that the youngster will get the chance to showcase his skills to the fullest.
Ngoumohia, who joined Liverpool from Chelsea last summer, has impressed coaches with his performances both in the youth teams and in training with the first team.
"Rio [was only in the squad] once, I think it was away at Southampton, but these players have been doing really well in training with us."
"They're playing really well and if they continue like this, their chances of getting into the first team will certainly increase," he said.
