Argentina’s U18 Ascenso Team to Compete in UEFA Friendship Cup in Switzerland

Argentina will be represented at the 2025 UEFA Friendship Cup by its Under-18 national team, composed of players from the country’s Ascenso (lower divisions). As confirmed by the Argentine Football Association, Claudio Gugnali’s squad will take part in the prestigious youth tournament held in Nyon, Switzerland from June 1 to 10.
The Argentine side was drawn into Group A alongside Australia, France, and the United States. They’ll open the tournament against Australia on June 1 at 15:30 local time (ARG). Their next fixtures will be against the U.S. on June 4 and France on June 7, all at the Colovray Sports Centre next to UEFA headquarters. The final is scheduled for June 10.
Organized under UEFA’s Together development initiative, the Friendship Cup blends competition with cultural exchange. Beyond the pitch, players will attend educational sessions on anti-doping and integrity, and take part in local tours. With UEFA covering key logistical costs, the tournament emphasizes unity and development among youth from different footballing traditions.
For Argentina’s young representatives, it’s a unique platform to gain international experience and proudly showcase the national colors on European soil.
