Ángel Correa is on the verge of leaving Atlético Madrid, with a move to Tigres UANL of Mexico nearing completion. According to Relevo, both clubs have reached a verbal agreement and only a few formalities remain before the deal is finalized during the upcoming transfer window. The reported fee is around €6 million.

Correa, 30, was a member of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning squad and has been with Atlético since 2014. During his time with the club, he amassed over 400 appearances and won La Liga, the Europa League, and the UEFA Super Cup. River Plate had shown interest in recent months, but the Mexican side appears to have taken the lead.

Tigres president Mauricio Culebro addressed the rumors: “He’s an option, like many others. He’s a great player we’d love to have, but we’re waiting until the end of the tournament to make a decision.”

Correa’s potential exit would mark the end of a long and successful tenure under Diego Simeone. He joined from San Lorenzo more than a decade ago and became a key piece in various tactical systems deployed by the Argentine coach.

Two more Argentine World Cup champions could also depart Atlético soon. Rodrigo de Paul is reportedly evaluating his future, despite his recent good form, while Nahuel Molina is expected to be sold in the next window. Juventus has shown interest, though Atlético is waiting for stronger offers
