Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that he is in talks with the German Football Association (DFB) about the possibility of taking over as head coach of the national team. The position became vacant after Julian Nagelsmann resigned following Germany's disappointing run at the 2026 World Cup, where the team crashed out in the round of 16, losing to Paraguay.

Details: In an interview with MagentaTV, Klopp noted that events have been unfolding rapidly.

"Yes, I can confirm the talks. Julian has stepped down, and the DFB is searching for a successor. We are communicating. I am ready. When these kinds of conversations begin, your mind starts working faster. We need to fundamentally change a lot of things," said the legendary coach.

However, before the appointment can be finalized, Klopp must resolve his current contract situation with Red Bull, where he serves as head of global football operations. Despite a clause allowing him to leave if offered the German national team job, Klopp still needs to iron out the details with his employer.

"I need some time. I am under contract with Red Bull. The negotiations will be intense, as this is not only about Julian Nagelsmann. I also need to have a conversation with Oliver Mintzlaff, my employer. We've already touched on a few points, and I hope he won't stand in the way," Klopp added.

Reminder: Toni Kroos slammed the German national team after their elimination.
