Appeal failed. Nottingham Forest will have to pay fine for tweet
In October, Nottingham Forest was fined £750,000 for just one tweet. The "Foresters" attempted to appeal this decision, and the outcome is now known.
Details: Nottingham Forest's appeal regarding a tweet criticizing referee Stuart Attwell in April 2024 was rejected. The appeal committee did not side with either the club or the football association, which demanded to increase the fine to at least one million pounds.
Thus, the initial decision remained in force: a fine of £750,000. Nottingham Forest was also required to delete the tweet criticizing Attwell, which soon happened.
Reminder: After losing to Everton 0-2 in April 2024, Nottingham Forest criticized the appointment of Attwell, a Luton Town fan, as the video assistant referee for that match.
All three clubs were then fighting for survival in the Premier League, and the "Foresters" considered this a conflict of interest, issuing a public statement on the club's account on X.
