Antoine Semenyo Withdraws From Ghana Squad Ahead of 2027 AFCON Qualifiers

Ghana have suffered another blow ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign, with Antoine Semenyo set to miss the upcoming international fixtures.

The forward has reportedly decided to remain with his club to concentrate on his recovery from an ankle problem that has affected him for some time.

Semenyo has been one of the standout performers for his club at the start of the 2026/27 campaign, scoring twice and providing three assists in seven appearances across all competitions.

His absence leaves Ghana without one of their in-form attacking options as head coach Carlos Queiroz prepares his squad for the September qualifiers.

The Black Stars are due to face Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia in their opening two matches as they begin their journey towards securing a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.
