Antoine Semenyo has revealed why he opted to wear the iconic No. 42 jersey at Manchester City following his £62.5 million ($84m) move from Bournemouth.
The Ghana international was officially unveiled as a City player on Friday, becoming the latest high-profile signing for Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Speaking in his first interview as a Manchester City player, Semenyo explained his decision to take the shirt number previously worn by club legend Yaya Touré.
"It was my first number I got at Bristol City when I first signed. It’s always stuck me. I was either 42 or 24 – 24 wasn’t available so I went back to my first number. That’s the inspiration behind it."
