Anthony Joshua reacts to Deontay Wilder's defeat
On December 23, a grand boxing show took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In the main event, former world champion Anthony Joshua (26–3, 23 KOs) from the UK faced off against Sweden's Otto Wallin (26–1, 11 KOs). Joshua confidently controlled the fight and secured a stoppage victory in the fifth round.
The co-main event of the evening brought a surprise: American Deontay Wilder (43–2–1, 42 KOs) lost to New Zealander Joseph Parker (33–3, 23 KOs) by unanimous decision — 111–118, 110–118, 108–120.
After his victory over Wallin, Joshua reacted to Wilder's defeat:
"I heard Deontay lost, but it means nothing – he'll be back. He said I was avoiding him, but I was just focused on preparing for my fight. I could respond to all his statements, but I'll rise above that.
I hope he comes back. His loss hasn't ruled out our fight. If he doesn't give up and keeps working, he can achieve success. If Deontay wants it, we'll fight. I'm sure people want to see that bout," said Anthony Joshua.
