Anthony Joshua Discharged From Hospital After Tragic Nigeria Car Accident
British heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital in Nigeria, just days after a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
The former world champion was declared medically fit to continue his recovery at home, according to a joint statement released by the Ogun and Lagos State authorities. The statement noted that Joshua is “heavy-hearted” as he mourns the loss of his longtime friends and team members.
The accident occurred on Monday along a major expressway in Nigeria when the Lexus SUV Joshua was traveling in collided with a stationary truck. While Joshua sustained only minor injuries, the crash proved fatal for two members of his inner circle.
Those who lost their lives were Sina Ghami, Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, his personal trainer. Both men were considered integral parts of Joshua’s professional team and had worked closely with him for years.
