Following the outcomes of yesterday's Champions League matchday, another participant for the 2025 Club World Cup from Europe has been determined: Borussia Dortmund.

The circumstance arose as RB Leipzig was eliminated from the Champions League by Real Madrid, forfeiting the opportunity to surpass Borussia Dortmund in the club ranking over the last four seasons.

Thus, three more participants from Europe remain to be determined for the tournament. Apart from Borussia Dortmund, the following clubs have secured their participation: Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Inter, Porto, Benfica, Bayern Munich (again), and PSG.

As a reminder, in the summer of 2025, the Club World Cup will undergo a new format for the first time, featuring the top 32 teams from around the globe.

From South America, three participants are already known: Flamengo, Palmeiras, and Fluminense, with three more yet to be decided.

Asia will be represented by Saudi club Al-Hilal and Urawa Reds. The winner of the AFC Champions League this season and the highest-rated team over the past four seasons will also join the tournament.

Four participants will come from Africa. It is already known that Al-Ahly Cairo and Wydad Casablanca will be among them.

From the CONCACAF region, participation is guaranteed for Monterrey, Seattle, and Leon.

Oceania will send New Zealand's Auckland City to the tournament.

Additionally, one team will be delegated to the World Cup by the tournament hosts, the USA.

The 2025 Club World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 15 to July 13.
