The Spanish second division match between Real Sociedad B and Castellón ended in a major scandal. In the 94th minute, the referee was officially forced to activate the anti-racism protocol and temporarily halt the game.
Details: The drastic measures were triggered by the provocative behavior of Castellón player Alberto Jiménez Benítez. According to the official referee’s report, the footballer shouted a racist slur at Real Sociedad B’s Japanese player Kazunari Kita, calling him a “f*cking Chinese”.
The anti-racism protocol in Spanish football requires the immediate suspension of the match, a stadium announcement, and the potential abandonment of the game if abuse continues. This incident erupted in the dying moments of the match, adding even more tension to an already charged contest.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is expected to launch a thorough investigation. If Alberto Jiménez is found guilty, he faces a lengthy suspension and a heavy fine. Both clubs have yet to issue official statements.
Reminder: Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé is dating Netflix celebrity Ester Expósito.
