In yesterday's match against Newcastle (4:2), Liverpool scored the fourth goal after a penalty, which referee Anthony Taylor awarded for a foul by goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on Diogo Jota.

However, almost all British experts agreed that the Portuguese forward simulated the foul.

"What a great dive that is 🤣🤣🤣," wrote the legendary Alan Shearer.

"Would rather go down for a penalty than put the ball in an empty net! Seen it all," former Arsenal forward Ian Wright commented.

"It was a dive! Poor officiating, poor on-field decision, and an even poorer VAR decision! Klopp would’ve been demented if that had happened at the other end. It’s not a penalty" – said English host Simon Jordan live on air.

Interestingly, in November, Anthony Taylor was already penalized for poor officiating in the Newcastle vs. Wolverhampton match. The experienced referee was temporarily assigned to work in the Championship, but quickly returned to the Premier League.

It is worth recalling that Liverpool set a record in the English Premier League for the highest expected goals (xG) in a single match in the battle against Newcastle.
