The Brazil national team has been hit with worrying news just ahead of the World Cup kickoff. Forward Neymar, who made the team’s final squad list, is once again struggling with fitness issues and now risks heading into the tournament far from his best form.
According to ESPN, the Brazilian has suffered a calf muscle strain. Reports indicate the severity of the injury is greater than initially feared, and his recovery could take longer than expected.
Because of this setback, Neymar is unlikely to feature in the national team’s upcoming friendlies. Before the World Cup begins, Brazil is set to play warm-up matches against Panama on May 31 and Egypt on June 6.
Let’s not forget, the 34-year-old forward remains one of the most iconic figures in Seleção history. He has made 128 appearances for the national team, netting 79 goals and providing 59 assists.
