Another footballer from Africa has tested positive for malaria
A footballer from the Ivory Coast national team and Fiorentina tested positive for malaria, as reported by ABolla.
Christian Kouame, the forward, received a positive result for malaria and is currently hospitalized in Florence. The player returned to Italy last week after winning the African Cup of Nations and began full training earlier this week.
On Tuesday, February 20th, the player experienced the first symptoms, and Fiorentina's doctors immediately conducted a malaria test. Christian Kouame has started treatment, but there is no information on when the forward will return to the field, as the disease is highly unpredictable.
It is reasonable to recall that Norin Betani, a female footballer from the Zambian national team, died from malaria. As it is known, the 24-year-old footballer was called up to the national team for the Olympic Games 2024 qualification match against Ghana. However, the 24-year-old girl fell ill earlier this week and passed away from malaria on Wednesday, February 21st.
