Burnley have signed Manchester City defender Max Alleyne on a season-long loan.

Details: According to the BBC, the 21-year-old centre-back will spend the 2026/27 season in the Championship. Fabrizio Romano reports that this is a straight loan deal with no option to buy, meaning the player will return to City in June 2027. Last season, Alleyne made seven appearances for City's first team and netted a goal in their resounding 10-1 FA Cup win over Exeter after being recalled from his loan at Watford.

Alleyne’s journey has been impressive: in January, City urgently recalled him from Watford due to injuries to Guardiola and Dias, and the youngster stepped up, earning seven starts. For Burnley, recently relegated to the Championship, this is a significant boost to their back line ahead of the new campaign, while for City, it’s another year of top-level experience for their academy product.

Interestingly, Alleyne’s father Mark played cricket for England, but his son chose football and has already debuted for England’s U21 national team. If he performs for Burnley as confidently as he did in the FA Cup against Exeter, Maresca will have a ready-made centre-back next summer.

Reminder: OFFICIAL: Liverpool have signed a star from Barcelona
