After his departure from Manchester United, David De Gea spent a year on the sidelines, but even now, he continues to prove he can compete at the highest level, reigniting interest from Champions League contenders.
Details: According to L'Equipe, Fiorentina is facing serious competition from Monaco in their pursuit of the 34-year-old goalkeeper. His contract runs until June 30, 2025, but includes an option for extension.
That option has yet to be exercised, and Monaco is looking to seize the opportunity. So far, there is no word on whether De Gea himself is interested in a move to the French Riviera.
Reminder: This isn't the only high-profile transfer being lined up by the Champions League participant. Earlier reports indicated that the Monegasques are preparing to bring Ansu Fati in on loan from Barcelona.
This season, De Gea has played 42 matches for Fiorentina, keeping 11 clean sheets.
