Anicet Yala takes over as interim head coach of Gabon's national team
He will lead the Panthers during the upcoming international break.
Gabon is still waiting to find out who its new manager will be since the departure of Thierry Mouyouma, who was sacked after the Panthers' early elimination from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. With the March international break approaching, Gabonese football officials have found a temporary solution.
They have appointed Anicet Yala to take over as interim head coach of the national team. The Gabonese tactician will lead the Panthers in the FIFA Series in which the Gabonese national team is participating. His mission is initially scheduled to last from 23 to 31 March 2026. Gabon's interim coach knows the team inside out. A former international player, he was assistant coach to Patrice Neveu and coach of Gabon's U20 team.
During the next FIFA window, Gabon will face Uzbekistan and Trinidad and Tobago in the FIFA Series.
