Angola is keen to persuade Castello Lukeba to join the Palancas Negras
The Angolan Football Federation is working hard to prise the 23-year-old defender away from France.
The vice-president of Angolan football’s governing body has confirmed that talks are underway with Castello Lukeba, who currently plays for RB Leipzig. However, the situation looks set to be complex. The 23-year-old defender remains a highly regarded player in France. He was, in fact, on the provisional list for the French national team for the World Cup to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“We’ve had a conversation. We’re trying to convince him to join our project. But it’s important to note that he was on France’s preliminary World Cup squad. Aliou Cissé and his team, with the support of the Federation, will work to bring in some of these players who could have an immediate impact on our squad,” said Kali.
Lukeba’s potential arrival would be a major boost for Angola. He is one of the most promising players in his position, with top-level experience in Europe.
