Angel Di Maria has announced that he will conclude his international career with the Argentina national team after the Copa America in the summer of 2024.

In an Instagram post, the footballer expressed that the upcoming tournament will be his last wearing the Argentine jersey, acknowledging the difficulty of making this decision.

"The Copa America will be the last tournament where I wear the Argentine shirt, with all the pain in my soul and feeling a lump in my throat. I bid farewell to the most beautiful thing that happened to me in my career, putting on the shirt, sweating, and feeling all the pride," wrote the footballer.

He expressed gratitude to the fans, family, friends, and teammates.

"We continue to make history, and this will remain eternal. Forward, Argentina, damn it," added Angel Di Maria.

Recall that on September 6, 2008, the midfielder made his debut for the Argentina national team in a match against Paraguay. In 2021, he scored the winning goal in the final against Brazil at the Copa America, helping Argentina secure the title. On December 18, 2022, in the final of the World Cup in Qatar, he scored a goal against the French national team in the 36th minute, contributing to Argentina's victory in the tournament.

The Copa America is scheduled to take place in June-July next year and will be held in Ecuador.
