Ange-Yoan Bonny is set to officially represent Ivory Coast
The Inter Milan striker has begun the administrative process to change his sporting nationality.
The Ivory Coast manager, Emerse Fae, announced last March that Ange-Yoan Bonny had agreed to represent the Ivory Coast on the international stage. The Ivory Coast Football Federation subsequently denied this claim. But more than a month later, confirmation has been given.
Ange-Yoan Bonny will indeed be representing the Ivory Coast at international level. The 23-year-old striker, who was born in France and has played for the French youth teams, has decided to play for his country of origin. He visited the Consulate General of the Ivory Coast in Milan to begin the process of obtaining his Ivorian passport.
With this change of sporting nationality, the Ivorian national team gains a significant attacking reinforcement ahead of the World Cup scheduled for this summer in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It is highly likely that Ange-Yoan Bonny will feature on Emerse Fae’s squad list for the trip to America.
