The Beninese international had been sidelined since injuring his ankle.

This injury, sustained in December 2025, prevented Andreas Hountondji from participating in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco with the Benin Cheetahs. Since then, he had been recovering.

But now, that period seems to be over with the striker's return. He took part in training on Wednesday 25 February 2026 with his German club. However, there is no indication that he will return to competition immediately. We will have to wait for his coach's explanation to find out.

This is still very good news for Benin, which is participating in an international friendly tournament in Morocco during the international break next March. St. Pauli can also breathe a sigh of relief for the second half of the Bundesliga season.
