André Carrillo may be on the verge of a positional resurgence at Corinthians. During Brazil’s midseason break, head coach Dorival Júnior trialed the Peruvian veteran as a left winger in training, as reported by E o Time do Povo. In a 4-3-3 formation, Carrillo joined Kayke and Memphis Depay in the attacking trio—marking a shift from his usual midfield role.

Carrillo, now 33, arrived at Corinthians earlier this year under Ramón Díaz, but has since adapted to Dorival’s vision following the Argentine's departure. While the former Brazil manager initially deployed Carrillo centrally, recent sessions suggest a return to the wide role he once excelled in at Sporting CP, Benfica, and Watford.

Though Carrillo had previously dismissed the idea of playing as a traditional No. 10, he now appears poised to revive his wing play. The shift may become permanent as Corinthians prepare to face Bragantino on July 13 in the Brasileirao. With continental tournaments out of reach, the club is focused on league performance and the Copa do Brasil, where they’ll meet Palmeiras in the round of 16. Carrillo’s versatility could prove vital for the challenges ahead.
