The recent flood in eastern Spain has escalated into a tragedy, claiming over two hundred lives. Sports events in the affected regions have been postponed, and calls are growing for a nationwide suspension of sporting activities.
Details: Real Madrid's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, spoke out on the matter, emphasizing that football is a form of celebration suitable when circumstances are favorable, but the team currently has no desire to play.
Quote: "Football should have stopped this weekend. Football is a celebration, and you can celebrate when things are going well, but when they aren't, it’s not the time to celebrate. It’s the most important of the unimportant things in life. But we are employees, not the ones in charge.
"It's been a week since the tragedy. We are deeply saddened and feel very close to those affected. We don’t want to talk about football, because compared to what happened in Valencia, it isn’t important. This is our profession, and we continue to work, but everything else is secondary," Ancelotti stated at a press conference.
