In recent days, Municipality No. 7 of Milan has been discussing an issue related to migratory birds nesting at San Siro Stadium. This problem, particularly concerning swifts, has affected the renovation of the arena where AC Milan and Inter play.

The topic was raised during a city council meeting. The agenda, prepared by Erika Soana (Europa Verde Sala Sindaco) and Stefano Gregolane (Fratelli d'Italia), highlights that "the common swift is a species that migrates annually from Africa to Europe for nesting, returning to the same location." Historically, swifts nested in cliff niches and tree hollows, but today they more frequently choose buildings and typically return to the same spots.

San Siro Stadium has become one such nesting site. However, due to the installation of nets to prevent debris from falling, swifts may become trapped and die after several hours of suffering.

Therefore, Municipality No. 7 is calling for urgent intervention to prevent swifts and other birds from getting caught in the nets at San Siro Stadium. They are also requesting the Milan municipality to continue addressing this issue through the environmental and green advisor responsible for the protection of swifts and their nests. Additionally, it is requested to ensure the installation of artificial nests as part of the future renovation of San Siro Stadium.
