At the 2024 Olympic Games, the men's golf tournament concluded with a thrilling final round on Sunday, August 4, which crowned the new champion.
Entering the fourth round as leaders were Spain's Jon Rahm and the USA's Xander Schauffele, both with a score of -14 under par. The Spaniard started the final day brilliantly, at one point achieving -20 under par and pulling five strokes ahead of his closest pursuer.
However, the last eight holes were disastrous for Jon Rahm, resulting in four bogeys and one double bogey. He finished the round at -15 under par.
Major winner Scottie Scheffler performed a remarkable feat today. Starting the round in sixth place at -10, Scottie began strong with three birdies on the first three holes. However, the final nine holes were exceptional. Scheffler made six birdies, reaching -19 under par and taking the lead.
In the end, an incredible comeback and dramatic finish secured the victory for the American at the Olympics. His closest pursuer, Tommy Fleetwood, couldn't make a birdie on the last hole and finished second at -18. Japan's Hideki Matsuyama finished in third place at -17 under par.
