Boxers Vasyl Lomachenko and George Kambosos are finalizing an agreement for a bout for the vacant IBF World Lightweight title, according to journalist Mike Coppinger.

The fight is set to take place in April or May 2024 in Australia. Lomachenko and Kambosos were initially scheduled to face off in 2022, but Lomachenko chose not to leave Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict in the country.

It is reasonable to recall that the previous date for the matchup between the Ukrainian and Australian boxers was April 13, but it hasn't been officially confirmed yet. In this head-to-head encounter, Lomachenko and Kambosos will determine the new IBF World Lightweight champion. The title became vacant after Devin Haney, who held the belts, moved up to the first super lightweight.

This will be Lomachenko's first bout since May 2023 when he lost a decision to Devin Haney, who defended the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF championship belts. On the other hand, George Kambosos last entered the ring in the summer when he defeated Maxi Hughes.

Preceding this fight were two bouts against Haney, in which Kambosos lost the world lightweight title in 2022.
