Manchester United is on the verge of securing its first transfer under Ruben Amorim. Insider Fabrizio Romano reports that the defender will undergo a medical and sign his contract this Sunday.

A sign that the transfer is imminent was Dorgu's absence from Lecce's match against Parma on Friday, as he spent the entire game on the bench. Before that, the defender had missed just one match in the current Serie A season.

What kind of player is Patrick Dorgu?

"Patrick is definitely coachable," Nordsaelland technical director Alexander Ryger told Sky Sports. "He is a great listener, not someone who talks a lot."

"He is extremely determined. He always wanted to improve—he’s a true footballer. He just played the game with his brothers. Every time we trained, I couldn't get him off the field. He just wanted to keep playing."

"Another thing that speaks volumes about him—I don't remember him ever getting injured since he started playing for Nordsaelland. That’s seven straight years, which is very unusual. Of course, this also shows how well he takes care of his body."

Transfer details: Is United overpaying?

The transfer fee will be €30 million plus €5 million in bonuses. Compared to Dorgu's valuation on Transfermarkt (€20 million), United is overpaying by €10-15 million.

This deal does not rank among United’s most expensive transfers—Dorgu will only be 11th in the club’s list of most expensive defenders. The record signing remains Harry Maguire, for whom United paid €87 million to Leicester City.

Who is Patrick Dorgu?

At just 20 years old, Dorgu was born near Copenhagen, though he has Nigerian roots. He has already made his debut for the Denmark national team, despite his African heritage.

The left-back began his football journey in Husum, a regional youth club. At 16, he joined Nordsaelland, before moving to Lecce in 2022.

Dorgu made his professional debut at Lecce, where he has already accumulated 57 matches across Serie A and the Coppa Italia over two seasons. Additionally, he has played four times for Denmark’s senior national team.
