The Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium has concluded with Manchester United securing a dramatic comeback victory over Manchester City in the 16th round of the Premier League.

This match marked the debut derby for United’s newly appointed head coach, Ruben Amorim.

Both teams started cautiously, unwilling to take early risks. As the first half progressed, the game began to gain momentum.

In the 36th minute, the hosts took the lead. Kevin De Bruyne delivered a brilliant cross, and Josko Gvardiol rose above the defense to head the ball into the top corner, leaving Andre Onana with no chance.

In the second half, Amorim’s side pushed relentlessly in search of an equalizer, dominating possession and creating opportunities. Around the hour mark, United came close to leveling the score, but Ederson made a superb save to deny a powerful low shot from Amad Diallo.

The match then seemed to settle, with City poised to see out the win. However, late drama unfolded. Mateus Nunes fouled Diallo inside the box, leading to a penalty. Bruno Fernandes stepped up and confidently converted from the spot to equalize in the 88th minute.

Just moments later, the Etihad was stunned into silence. Diallo capitalized on a defensive mix-up in City’s penalty area to score the winner, securing a remarkable three points for the Red Devils.

With this victory, Pep Guardiola failed to avenge his earlier loss to Amorim, when Sporting Lisbon inflicted a humiliating 4-1 defeat on City in the Champions League. The Portuguese manager once again got the better of Guardiola with another painful result.
