Ruben Amorim wanted to take charge of Manchester United only at the end of the season, wishing to win the championship again with Sporting Lisbon. But the ultimatum from the Red Devils changed everything.

Quote: “The only question I asked was to leave at the end of the season. For three days, I said I wanted to stay until the end of the season, but then I was told it was not possible.

It was now or never – Manchester would choose another candidate,” said the 39-year-old coach.

Reminder: Ruben Amorim will begin work at United on November 11, after overseeing Sporting's final matches before the international break. The Portuguese specialist has agreed to a contract until June 2027, with the option for an additional year.
