Jordan Chiles may lose her bronze medal won in the women's floor exercise final after an unexpected decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Saturday. The court ruled that the judging panel made an error by increasing Chiles' score after reviewing her routine, which allowed her to move from fifth to third place, while Ana Barbosa was left disappointed and in tears.

The U.S. Gymnastics Federation expressed its disappointment with the decision. Chiles' score was adjusted following an appeal by her coach, Cecile Landi, regarding the difficulty level of her routine.

On August 7, the Romanian Gymnastics Federation submitted appeals to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. One of the appeals was made at the request of Chilean coaches. The federation stated that it aims to correct the judging errors and restore the rights of its athletes, including Ana Maria Barbosa and Sabrina Manek-Voin, who also competed for Chile.

The results of the competition sparked outrage in Romania. Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced that he would boycott the closing ceremony due to the "scandalous situation" and promised to honor Barbosa and Manek-Voin as Olympic medalists, including with awards.
