AmaZulu Dominate Cape Town City to Secure Back-to-Back Wins
AmaZulu secured their eleventh victory of the season on Sunday at the King Zwelithini Stadium, defeating Cape Town City 2-0 to maintain their strong play. The outcome meant that City had now lost six of their previous seven games, extending their losing skid to seven games.
Early Pressure Pays Off
Elmo Kambindu, a January signing, opened the scoring for AmaZulu in the 23rd minute, sliding in at the far post to convert Tshepang Moremi’s low cross. The Namibian striker has now netted three goals since joining the Durban-based side.
Second-Half Cushion
Usuthu sealed the win in the second half through another recent arrival, Nkosikhona Radebe, who scored his second goal in as many games. The full-back finished off a sequence of flick-on headers at the back post to double AmaZulu’s lead.
City’s Struggles Continue
Despite Cape Town City creating the first real chance of the game through Jaedin Rhodes in the sixth minute, their lack of confidence was evident. Coach Muhsin Ertugral’s side struggled to respond, failing to pose any real threat after falling behind.
However, with their 3-5-2 configuration, AmaZulu dominated play and appeared to be in control for the majority of the game. The fact that his squad was able to take advantage of their dominance and earn three vital points at home will please coach Arthur Zwane.
