Bayer's sporting director Simon Rolfes seems to have finally clarified the situation. After a 3-1 victory, he told German journalists that Alonso will stay at the club for the next season, emphasizing that the coach has a contract and no negotiations are underway for his departure.
Despite this, as long as Ancelotti's future remains uncertain, Alonso's name will continue to appear in the Spanish press.
Carlo Ancelotti and Alonso have contracts valid until 2026, but in the Madrid club, coaches are often dismissed after an unsuccessful season. Real continues to compete in three major tournaments and will also play in the Club World Cup, but if Ancelotti doesn't win any trophies, his future will be in question.
