Almirón Turns Down Chivas Offer to Focus on Colo Colo Amid Uncertain Future

Jorge Almirón’s future at Colo Colo remains in question, but the Argentine manager has made it clear he’s not walking away. According to Dale Albo, Chivas de Guadalajara approached Almirón to offer him their vacant coaching position, following nearly a month without a head coach after Gerardo Espinoza’s departure.
Yet, as journalist Christopher Brandt reported, Almirón declined the offer from the Liga MX giants. The current Colo Colo boss expressed gratitude for the interest, but reaffirmed his commitment to the Chilean club. “I would never leave my people behind,” he stated recently, as rumors of an imminent exit swirl.
The pressure on Almirón is mounting ahead of Wednesday night’s crucial Copa Libertadores clash against Racing. A loss could lead Blanco y Negro to end his tenure. Still, the coach remains calm, saying, “To reach good times, you must go through bad ones. I don’t know a successful person who hasn’t.”
Almirón’s decision to stay — at least for now — gives him one more shot to turn things around. Whether the board shares his conviction may be decided on the pitch.
