Allowance Dispute Disrupts Uganda’s AFCON 2025 Build-Up Federation of Uganda Football Associations

Uganda’s AFCON 2025 preparations suffered a setback after players reportedly boycotted training in Morocco over unpaid allowances. Reports said several squad members refused to train, demanding payment and clarity on what they are owed during the camp. One report stated, “Uganda Cranes didn't conduct today's training in Morocco… over unpaid AFCON qualifier allowances.”

The boycott comes days before Uganda open their Group C campaign against Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles in Fès on Tuesday. The Cranes face a tough group that also includes three-time African champions Nigeria and regional rivals Tanzania, making smooth preparations crucial ahead of decisive continental qualifying fixtures tests.
