Ecuadorian forward Allen Obando, aged 18, is on the verge of becoming a new addition to Inter Miami of Major League Soccer (MLS). The striker, who would be joining on loan from the Atlético Madrid Group, has arrived in the United States and has already undergone medical examinations before signing his contract with the team managed by Javier Mascherano.

According to TyC Sports, Obando was transferred from Barcelona de Guayaquil to the Atlético Madrid Group for 4 million dollars. However, instead of joining the Spanish club directly, he will play on loan for the Florida team for a year. The owning group's intention is for the young forward to gain minutes in the MLS and continue his development before an eventual move to European football.

Standing at 1.89 meters with a growing goal-scoring profile, Obando made his professional debut in 2022 at just 16 years old. In total, he played 23 matches for Barcelona de Guayaquil and scored four goals. Additionally, he had a brief stint with the Ecuadorian national team, playing two friendlies in 2024 under coach Félix Sánchez.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano highlighted that the Ecuadorian is seen as the natural replacement for Luis Suárez at Inter Miami, providing an attacking alternative in the team's rotation. His arrival adds to an active transfer market for the Florida franchise, which also signed Gonzalo Luján, Tadeo Allende, Rocco Ríos Novo, Telasco Segovia, Maximiliano Falcón, and Fafá Picault.

Once signed, Obando will become the third Ecuadorian to wear the Inter Miami jersey, following Leonardo Campana and Dixon Arroyo. The Herons, leaders of the MLS Eastern Conference, will look to solidify their good form when they face Philadelphia Union on March 29 and Los Angeles FC in the Concachampions on April 3.
