Lionel Messi's rumored appearance at the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony has taken an unexpected turn.

Details: According to renowned football insider Fabrizio Romano, Lionel Messi is NOT expected to present an award at the upcoming Ballon d'Or ceremony in London. Furthermore, the Argentine legend's attendance at the event has not yet been confirmed, leaving his participation in serious doubt.

This information contradicts earlier reports suggesting that the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner would personally hand over the prestigious trophy to this year's winner. Journalist Juan Jesus had previously claimed that Messi would attend the ceremony and take on the special role of award presenter.

However, Romano's latest update casts serious doubt on those claims. At this stage, there is no confirmation that Messi will travel to London, let alone appear on stage to present the trophy.

The 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony is scheduled for October 26 in London. This year's event will mark the award's 70th anniversary, with the ceremony being held in the British capital for the first time in history.

Importantly, Messi's absence has not been officially announced. His participation remains uncertain, and the final list of attendees has yet to clarify whether the Argentine will be present.

It's worth noting that the Inter Miami captain holds the all-time record with eight Ballon d'Or awards. He claimed his most recent trophy in 2023 and is among the nominees for the 2026 edition.

Reminder: Ballon d'Or leaked! Messi will receive the trophy!
