Al-Ittihad may appoint a legendary Frenchman as their new coach
Al-Ittihad appears to have settled on a new head coach. Legendary Frenchman Laurent Blanc is on the verge of being appointed, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Initially, the Saudi team aimed to hire Stefano Pioli, but negotiations fell through. Now, they have shifted their focus to Blanc. It is expected that he may soon take charge of the team.
Blanc's most recent position was with Lyon. On October 16th, in his first official match as manager, the team lost away to Rennes in the French championship. He was dismissed on September 8, 2023.
It is worth noting that Al-Ittihad has been experiencing internal conflicts. Former club president Loay Nazer resigned on Saturday, citing interference from the Ministry of Sports in the club's decision-making process, according to reports from the Middle East.
Since Nazer played a crucial role in selecting Pioli as the potential new head coach, and with his departure from the club, Al-Ittihad has decided to change their direction in the search.
