The Senegalese tactician announced his departure this Wednesday 8 April.

Aliou Cisse’s departure from the Libyan national team’s coaching staff was expected. Despite the payment of the salary arrears owed to the Senegalese coach, the president of the Libyan Football Federation had stated that his future depended on the governing body’s ability to honour its financial commitments to the coach. A few days later, Aliou Cisse announced his departure. The Senegalese tactician made the announcement in a statement on his social media accounts.

This March has been very special for me as it marked my final gathering as coach of the Libyan national team. This adventure has been immensely rewarding both professionally and personally, and I could not leave without saying a few words to you. To the staff and players, despite the difficulties we have faced, I am proud of the work we have achieved together and the results we have secured. I have great faith in this team and I have no doubt that you will continue your efforts to help it grow further.
