Aliou Cissé makes a successful start with Angola's Palancas Negras
Appointed as Angola’s head coach in April 2026, the Senegalese tactician has made a convincing start.
After four matches, Aliou Cissé remains unbeaten with the Angola national team. In his first match in charge, the former Senegal manager led the Palancas Negras to a 1–1 draw against Mauritania last June. Angola then secured a comfortable 3–0 victory over the Central African Republic during the June international break.
Aliou Cissé has continued this unbeaten run in the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. On 25 September, Angola secured a valuable 0–0 draw in Cairo against Egypt, before beating Malawi 3–1 at home on 6 October.
In four matches under Aliou Cissé, Angola have therefore recorded two wins and two draws. The Palancas Negras have scored seven goals and conceded just two, confirming the promising start to the Senegalese manager’s tenure.
