Al-Hilal ends Real Madrid’s impressive Club World Cup streak

Real Madrid faced Al-Hilal in their opening group stage match of the Club World Cup and failed to secure a victory. Moreover, the Saudi side brought an end to a unique run by the Spanish giants.
Details: According to Opta, the Saudi team halted the Royal Club’s 11-match winning streak at the Club World Cup, including results from the tournament’s previous format. This marks the first time since 2000 that Real Madrid has failed to win a match in this competition.
This match was also historic for one of Real Madrid’s players. As previously reported, Gonzalo García became the fourth youngest footballer in Real Madrid’s history to score on his debut since 2010.
As for the Club World Cup, Real Madrid will next take on Al Ain from the UAE, before facing Juventus in their final group stage fixture.
Reminder: In the opening match of the tournament, French forward Kylian Mbappé did not feature—not only was he left out of the starting lineup, he wasn’t included in the matchday squad at all.
