Algerian Duel Lyon And Qarabag Highlights Contrasting Performances Between Benrahma & Benzia

The fifth round of the UEFA Europa League featured an exciting match between two Algerian players, Yassine Benzia from Qarabag and Saïd Benrahma from Olympique Lyon. Although many people were looking forward to the game, it showed how different the two players' situations were.

Lyon won the match 4-1, thanks to Benrahma's strong performance. The ex-West Ham player was very important, adding two direct goal contributions to his Europa League record this season. He made a key assist for his Belgian teammate Malik Fofana, showing how much he influenced the game.

According to Transfermarkt, Benrahma, who joined Lyon earlier this year, has done well in the tournament, scoring or assisting once per 95 minutes. However, Benzia, a key player for Qarabag since 2022, has struggled to make an impression against Benrahma's team.

Although Benzia contributed an assist in Qarabag's previous match against Bodo/Glimt, his performances in this season's Europa League have been underwhelming, with just one assist in 363 minutes played.

The night solidified Benrahma’s growing reputation at Lyon while raising questions about Benzia’s form in European competitions.
