Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi has shared details about his early experiences with the national team setup, revealing that his first taste of international football with Nigeria’s U-23 side came with several organizational challenges.

Speaking during an interview with High Performance, the Super Eagles star explained that the structure and discipline he experienced while representing England national football team at youth level was noticeably different.

According to Iwobi, England’s setup was highly organized and strictly managed.

“With England, it’s a bit more strict. You’re in St George's Park National Football Centre or you’re in a hotel, no one’s allowed to come in, strict food, strict regime — that’s it,” he said.

The midfielder added that his early experience with Nigeria’s U-23 team was quite different, pointing to logistical issues that sometimes affected players.

“Nigeria now… sometimes your flight’s not booked properly; you have to book your own flight. You get there and sometimes the people at the airport are not ready to pick you up, so you have to make your own way,” he explained.
