Alex Iwobi Apologises After Red Card in Nigeria Friendly Against Jordan
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has taken responsibility for his actions and issued a public apology following his late red card in Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly draw against Jordan on March 31.
The incident occurred during a tense moment in the match played in Turkey, when Iwobi reacted angrily after being held back by Jordan’s Amer Jamous. His retaliation led to a straight red card, leaving Nigeria to finish the game a man down.
Speaking on his YouTube platform, the former Arsenal star admitted that his reaction fell short of expectations and accepted full blame for the situation.
“I need to address what I did and apologise to all my Nigerian teammates, staff, and everyone who cares about Nigeria. My actions were not good enough, and I got sent off,” Iwobi said.
“But I will learn from this and keep moving on. We got a draw, we did not lose, so we will take the positives.
“I want to apologise for the mistake,” the Fulham star added.
