This past weekend, the Rocket Classic — a PGA Tour event held in Detroit — crowned a new champion who etched his name into the history books of South African golf.

Details: The winner was none other than South Africa’s Aldrich Potgieter, who finished the tournament with a score of 22-under par after four rounds. However, two other players matched his total, forcing a playoff to decide the champion.

The playoff extended over five holes, but in the end, Potgieter emerged victorious, outlasting both Grayson Murray and Chris Kirk to claim his first-ever PGA Tour title.

With this triumph, Potgieter became the youngest South African ever to win a PGA Tour event — and the seventh-youngest winner on the Tour in the past 42 years.
