Alcaraz risks missing the US Open. What's the reason?

Carlos Alcaraz, ranked third in the world, arrived at the 2024 US Open following an unexpected loss to Gaël Monfils, who is ranked 45th, at the Cincinnati Masters 1000. His goal now is to move past that setback and win his second Grand Slam title at the American Major, where he won his first Grand Slam trophy in New York in 2022.
Before his debut against Australian Li Tu, who is ranked 188th, Alcaraz planned to train with Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, ranked 28th. However, those plans were disrupted due to an ankle sprain.
According to reports from the US, after sustaining the injury, Alcaraz immediately halted the practice, spoke with his team, and left the court to go to the locker room. The severity of the 21-year-old's injury is currently unknown.
His debut at the US Open is scheduled for Tuesday, August 27.
Additionally, on Friday, August 23, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, missed one of his practices. It was reported that he is experiencing health issues.
