The Spanish tennis maestro and the world's second-ranked player, Carlos Alcaraz, emerged victorious in the opening match of the ATP Finals 2023, held on the indoor hard courts in Turin, Italy.

In the second round of the Red Group, the Spaniard defeated the neutral player Andrey Rublev (ATP 5) in straight sets in just 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Throughout the match, the Spaniard did not concede his serve once.

This encounter marked the second meeting between the two tennis players, resulting in an even score of 1:1.

In the Red Group, Alcaraz and Rublev compete alongside Alexander Zverev and another neutral player, Daniil Medvedev.

In the first round, Carlos suffered a defeat against Alexander, while Andrey lost to Daniil.

In the upcoming third and final round of the quartet, Carlos will face Medvedev, and Rublev will engage in a match against Zverev. Currently, all four players maintain their chances of advancing to the playoffs of the ATP Finals 2023.

Carlos Alcaraz secured his first-ever victory at the ATP Finals, marking his debut appearance in the season-ending tournament.
