The world's second-ranked player, Carlos Alcaraz, has advanced to the round of 16 at the ATP1000 tournament in Miami.

During the night, the young Spaniard confidently outplayed the experienced Frenchman Gael Monfils in straight sets. In the first set, Alcaraz made almost no errors on his serve and won 6-2. In the second set, Monfils managed to secure 1 game on Alcaraz's serve, but it was not enough as Alcaraz triumphed 6-4.

Alcaraz's opponent in the round of 16 will be the 24-year-old Italian, Lorenzo Musetti, who defeated American Ben Shelton in the round of 32.
