Alberto Gamero Tipped as Potential Replacement for Polilla Da Silva at América de Cali

América de Cali may soon see a managerial change. As reported by Antena 2, the club’s board is reconsidering Jorge “Polilla” Da Silva’s position, despite the team finishing atop the regular season table in Colombia’s Liga BetPlay and remaining in contention in the Copa Sudamericana. A prominent candidate to take over is Alberto Gamero, one of the most respected Colombian managers in recent years.
Journalist Bambino Quintero suggested on Alerta Bogotá that Gamero’s name is already being discussed internally. With league and Superliga titles under his belt from successful stints at Deportes Tolima and Millonarios, Gamero fits the club’s ambition to return to trophy-winning form. While no talks have been confirmed, the upcoming Sudamericana clash against Racing de Montevideo could prove decisive.
